What Happened at Sacred Circle

Have you ever had a memory pop into your mind so clearly, you can recall every detail…then you realize that memory hasn’t happened yet

These “premembering” incidents, as Martha Beck calls them, have been appearing in my life with some regularity since I was a teenager and seem to materialize in my mind’s eye when my life is about to reach a pivotal moment. (Check out my other post about the premonition that took me from a loveless marriage in suburbia to living on a sailboat with my soulmate.)

This particular vision came to me in the fall of 2023 when I was a newly trained Wayfinder life coach and beginning my work with Sacred Medicine. I entered a meditative state one morning, guided by one of my instructors, and instantly, without any effort at all, the premembering vision filled my mind and took over my senses.

I was standing in the middle of what I knew to be a central gathering area of a woodland retreat center. The Hub, I called it. I was surrounded by standing stones, a labyrinth underfoot, and there were trails stretching out in several directions, which I knew led to sweet little cottages, a sauna, a dining and multi-use space, and the beach. I knew the place was full of people who had come for community and healing, and it delighted me to the point where I wondered if it was too good to be true.

It was only a few short days before Spirit woke me up in the night and told me to start looking for the place. And Andrew, to my everlasting gratitude, was completely on board and ready to invest his time, talents, and a majority of our assets into this vision. It was a whirlwind property search with many amazing synchronicities along the way. When I stepped foot in The Hub for the first time, I knew this was the place. It felt like an old friend, and I had intuited that the retreat center’s name was Sacred Circle.

Two weeks later, the deal was done. We were so excited to get to work, living on our sailboat in Tacoma during the week and camping out on Harstine Island doing hard labor on the weekends.

That was a year and a half ago, and in March we reached a major milestone. We had finally gained safe access to the mysterious, dynamic, energy-filled spot where The Hub and the first couple of shelters would be built, and it was time to construct the first of three yomes we had purchased from Red Sky Shelters.

With one cozy little cottage complete, I was able to begin working with clients on the island — an absolute delight! We took a short pause from our labor to enjoy how far we’d come, but it wasn’t long before we felt the pull to begin laying the foundation for yome #2. Sacred Circle, I had known from the beginning, was never just for me. It was a resource for the wider community of healers. A place they could come to that is specifically designed with ceremony and spiritual connection in mind.

But even with just one yome fully complete, we were excited to share Sacred Circle with others. We signed up for our first psychedelic resource fair a few short weeks ago and made our way out to the island the night before the event.

We arrived as the sun was setting and immediately saw that something wasn’t quite right.

The shed door was open. The latch bent and screws ripped out of the wood.

All our tools were gone.

We walked the property, taking in the damage. My heart sank when I heard Andrew yell, “They took the yomes!”

It’s hard to know what to say next. Do I tell you about the frustration of working with the sheriffs department, how we’re scouring all the online marketplaces for signs of our belongings, or how our naive selves have increased security tenfold?

All of this is true. But there’s something vastly more important to the story, I believe.

This incident broke me open. I was laid bare before Spirit with no choice but to ask for help, to trust that there’s more going on than I can see, to remain in constant communication with my Guides, and to follow my heart and my knowing with each small step forward.

Totally surrendered. Totally in flow.

We don’t know how the next chapter of this story will unfold, but we are unfolding.

And something tells me that, despite the material loss, this was the most important thing for me to gain as I step into who I’m meant to be in this life.

If your path feels intertwined with Sacred Circle, please come check it out. Our one yome still stands, untouched, perhaps protected by unseen forces. It’s a truly special place for healers to come and work with their clients for the day or for solo and couples glamping retreats. Come experience the magic of this sacred place.
